Team Suunto Philippines: Ready to Conquer New Territories

Like each Suunto Watch, Team Suunto Philippines is built to perform and excel in various adventure sports in and out of the country.  Various sports such as Skyrunning, Trail running, Triathlon, Running, Ultra marathon, Cycling and Duathlon are best done with the aid of Suunto’s GPS and Navigation Features.  Team Suunto Philippines is composed of individuals who has been on top of their sport or their age groups and are also familiar names in the running, multisports and trail communities.

The members don’t only show athletic prowess but they will help promote, advocate and do brand marketing.  End-users can easily relate to the following age-groupers. They will also be TECHNICAL PARTNERS for product familiarization and product demonstration. They will be present at all SUUNTO-initiated events more importantly the Suunto launches.

Team Suunto Philippines will help complement the efforts of the more established Brand Ambassadors and the country’s top triathletes and multisport coaches in Andy Leuterio, Miguel Lopez and Keisha Fule.  The three brand ambassadors have been consistent podium finishers in all of their races.

Team Suunto Philippines is comprised of 16-male and 1-female athletes who are highly competitive athletes who all share a burning desire for self-improvement and athletic excellence.

Aldean Philip Lim

Aldean Philip Lim

Aldean is a veteran of several ultramarathons where he has consistently placed within the top 5 finishers, Aldean is like the Energizer bunny who just keeps on going. His passion for endurance sport is unquestionable and he bring it to the table, at ever race he joins.

He is a Skyrunner, Trail runner, Ultramarathoner, Duathlete and Triathlete. He is also a Salomon Ambassador.

Aldean always pushes his boundaries. He likes to outperform himself, beating the competition in the process. His ultimate goal is to finish Ultra Trail Mont Blanc (after qualifying in stellar fashion).

Aldean is a techie.

Suunto will certainly help as he logs all the mileage and analyzes them for competition.

Ronald Declarador

Ronald plays to be the premier long-distance authority of the team. He is the Philippine Distance holder for Vibram Five fingers. The team captain’s torch has been passed to Ronald and continuously leads the team towers the challenging seasons ahead and keeps each member’s athletic goals on the forefront.

He is a Skyrunner, Trail runner, Ultramarathoner, Duathlete and Triathlete.

Ronald’s athletic goals are to regain form after a long break from sports,andto top all his previous accomplishments.

Suunto can help me monitor all my training details. I can see all the numbers and stats that could help me train smarter, thus perform better. Not to mention, it makes me look cooler. 🙂

Wilnar Iglesia


Wilnar is the reigning BDM 160K Ultramarathon record-holder, covering the distance by foot in a little over 17 hours. He has rapidly conquered another territory in endurance sport as he threw down a strong mid-5-hour time in Camsur IM 70.3 2012. Wilnar’s name is synonymous to endurance racing and his humility makes him one of the most popular name, not only within the team, but to the whole running community.

He is a Ultramarathoner, Trail runner, Duathlete and Triathlete.

Wilnar wants to excel and spread his chosen sports to everyone that anybody can do it as long as they willing to do it with the proper training, nutrition and gears.

Before,  I don’t use any gadget to monitor my training but with Suunto, I know that I can perform well by having a proper analysis of my training against my races.

Glenn is one of the most decorated members in the local triathlon scene, having placed consistently within the top 5 of his age group in big local races. He goes back and forth from Manila and Hong Kong. He conquers races in the said countries.

James is one of the driving forces behind the team’s success. He is a  certified Coach by the Interanational Triathlon union. He backs up his theory with practice as reflected by his stint at the Inaugural Ironman 70.3 World championships in Las vegas as part of the First Filipino Delegation.

It has been James’ goal to have an active lifestyle, Break PR, and complete yearly in IM distance event.

He is a Triathlete, Trail runner and Runner.

Arbie Portugal

Arbie is a former track and field star back in college and he has been consistent in proving his athletic prowess throughout the season and deems to be one of the team’s strongest cylists and runners. His exemplary dedication to training has earned him respect among his co-members. His genial and unpretentious attitude makes him one of the best from the pool.

His athletic goals are to achieve a new personal record to all of his races.

“Suunto  is a very reliable and accurate watch that is very vital to my training and racing to achieve my specific goals.  Since running is my strength and I run well if I pace well, it is imperative that all my training runs are executed to a tee.  Having a Suunto will help me know if im running too fast or too slow for a specific distance. It will also help me map out my runs and know where I went wrong or right.”

Kaloy’s dedication to training has earned him dependable performances in the events he joined including his first team time trial. He embodies the adage – “no pain, no gain” – as he loves training with much stronger athletes, thereby getting him stronger. He looks forward to a healthier and a more competitive 2014 season.

Kaloy has always had the love for sports. I’m aiming to get to the top 35% of my A-race this August. I’m more focused on my training now which also explains my selective race for the year. I want it to be systematic and accurate.

I need a reliable watch/comp that will enable me to log my trainings and track my performance easily and I believe Suunto will be able to help me with this.

Mark has immediately stepped up and proven his worth to do impressive races. This has been manifested in his sensational performance at one of his A-races last 2012. His positive outlook, warm personality combined and dedication to self-improvement make him one of the most admired members of the team.

Mark’s athletic goars are to be able to excel in the AG for all types of races — Tri, dua, run, trail runs, mtb races and ITT.  He aims to explore and experience different endurance sports as well as new adventure sports that are unique as well as challenging. He wants to inspire more people to do fitness through multi sports and to be an ambassador of fitness and good health.

“Suunto can definitely help me monitor all my trainings for each dicipline at any given level. It can provide me with data i need to improve my fitness level from day one till race day. Suunto will help me analyze my progress and will give me the psecific information needed as to what things i need to improve on it.”

Ericks’ competitive nature has made him one of the team’s top age group athlete. He is motivated in every aspect of his life – it made him to be determined to do well in sports, too. This guy has found the balance work, family and his passion for sports.i

He is a Skyrunner, Trail runner, Ultra marathoner, Adventure races, Triathlete.

Bong Patrimonio

Bong is one of the pillars of the team. He is an active military serviceman and currently assigned to command a battalion in Mindanao. But his assignments do not get in the way of his passion for endurance racing. He continuously encourages enlisted men and women to live an active and healthy lifestyle by way of cycling and running. A veteran of the most rigorous races in the country, he always finishes strong, ahead more that 80% of the field.

One of his athletic goals is to beat his PR in the coming IM 70.3.

He is a Triathlete, Trail runner and Runner.

Emil’s indomitable spirit and easy going personality has made him a role model among his teammates. As it has been showcased during the course of the season, he is a universally recognized as one of the top all-around triathletes of the group. He is the team’s pride in swimming, and cycling, being one of the strongest.

For this season, Emil’s athletic goal is to train harder, join more races and to stay at the top of my age group to represent my team. He’s looking forward to beat his PR 5:53:35 overall time for upcoming 70.3 Ironman Cebu (Aug 2014)

He is a Triathlete, Trail runner and Ultra marathoner.

Jeff’s athelic goal is to excel in his chosen sports and level up by learning a new adventure sport. He’s gunning for a faster time and no waste mileage.

Bong Pimentel

Bong is the other half of the duo who represent the team in  Hongkong. If other people collect toys as a hobby, Bong collects finisher’s medals and shirts. He tirelessly shuttles between Hongkong and Manila to represent the team in the biggest local races and has been very consistent in the his results; often finishing within the top 15% of his age group. Bong has been chosen as the Philippine flag bearer in the upcoming New York Marathon.

Bong’s athletic goal is to do a sub 11 for Ironman Melbourne and race TNF 100 in Hongkong.

He is a Triathlete, Trail runner and Runner.

 I find Suunto will equip me and provide necessary data in helping me perform well.

Jason Dela Rama

Jason is one of the team’s most physically gifted and mercurial members. He has proven time and again that he can efficiently harness both his mental and physical faculties as he can compete with the best out there. He has the most cumulative international exposure including a stint in Ironman Korea. He figures to have a breakout season in 2014 as the points of experience culled throughout the season are ingrained into his training and race strategy.

Jason’s goals are to learn, improve and excel in running and multisports. Quantifying his goals, he wants to reach the following:

  • Sub 46 minutes 10km
  • Sub 1:47 time in 21km

He is a Triathlete, Trail runner, Ultra marathoner, Advernture Racer.
