Posted by on 25. February 2015

NatGeo Earth Day Run is one of the biggest and most anticipated run in the country.  Last year, they added the full marathon distance and this year they would be adding a new location as #NatGeoRun2015 is happening in two locations.  The Manila Leg would be on April 26, 2015 at the SM Mall of Asia Grounds with 20,000 expected runners doing 5K, 10K, half marathon and full marathon categories. On May 24, 2015, #NatGeoRun2015 is going to Baguio City with 5,000 expected participants joining this leg.  The proceeds of the race would help minority communities in Mindoro and advocating the preservation of our tamaraws.  Online Registration has started via http://runrio.com and Onsite Registration would start on March 16, 2015 at the Lower Ground Floor, SM Aura Premier BGC.

#NatGeoRun2015 would help in the tamaraw preservation

One of the races I look forward every year is Nat Geo Earth Day Run because it always brings in the cause of the environment and is one of the most attended runs.  Last year, NatGeo Earth Day Run introduced the full marathon distance in their categories.  #NatGeoRun2015 gets even bigger with targeted 20,000 runners to participate on April 26, 2015 at the Mall of Asia Grounds distributed in 5K, 10K, Half Marathon and Marathon Distances.  It is also expanding outside Metro Manila as there will be a Baguio leg happening on May 24, 2015 with 5,000 expected runners joining this leg.  I always admire the cause of NatGeo and this year, the event will help raise funds for the portable solar powered lighting kits that will be sent to communities in Mindoro, a project of National Geographic Channel’s environmental partner, World Wildlife Fund for Nature.  The lighting kits eliminate the use of use of highly flammable kerosene to light up the homes of Tawbuid Mangyan Tribesfolks and Forest Ranger Camps  and gives them access to a safe, stable and sustainable energy source that gives more opportunities for community development and advancement.  This would help in sustainable development of Tawbuid Mangyan tribesfolks and support the Mindoro Forest Rangers advocating the preservation of the tamaraws.

I’ve joined the previous editions of Nat Geo Earth Day Run and I always had a great time because of the significant number of participants, the cause of the environment and the festivities for the celebration of Earth Day.  I’m even more excited with  this year’s edition, with Runrio being the main organizers for this year run.  If you’ve joined a Runrio event, you’ll know that you are well taken cared of in terms of a safe and friendly race route, sufficient hydration, quality singlets, finisher shirts and medals and their seamless execution on race day.  Next is that they are having another run in the City of Pines, Baguio City on May 24, 2015 and for those who know me, that’s my home town.  That’s the same quality run at a much cooler climate and at a more challenging elevation.  (Baguio Leg Race Details to Follow).  It’s gonna give experienced runners the perfect condition to chase their personal records and it’s also going to be a fun event for newbies with ample race support.  So this one is let’s all join hands and support mother earth.
