Under Armour Partners With Slam for PBA Draft Combine

The Philippine Basketball Association is the oldest professional league in Asia. It has developed several legends and a lot of players who furthered the growth of basketball as the country’s favorite past time and sports.  The story of the next set of PBA players and potential All Stars and Legends of the Game begins with PBA Draft Combine.  Under Armour is the perfect performance apparel that will usher the neophytes as they start their PBA careers by showcasing their stuff in the draft combine.

Under Armour has steadily grown their presence in the Philippines with the opening of their brand houses and partnership with several events.  Under Armour has also shown its support for Basketball, which is hands down the most popular sports of the country, with their partnership with Slam Philippines for the PBA Draft Combine.  Expect to see the stars of tomorrow strut their stuff today.   Big names are set to join the league.  There are potential franchise cornerstone among the draft class.  Before they start to make an impact in the league, the Draft combine is an excellent showcase their talents to prospective teams before they get drafted.

Who among this year’s top collegiate talent will join the elite ranks of the Philippine Basketball Association in 2016?

Under Armour Philippines is proud to announce its partnership with SLAM Philippines in heralding the next generation of basketball talent with the PBA Draft Suite and Combine.

The PBA Draft Suite is meant to introduce prospective draftees to the world of professional basketball, giving them a chance to interact with partner brands like Under Armour and the media.

The Draft Suite will host the following athletes:

  • CHRIS NEWSOME (Ateneo De Manila University)
  • ROI SUMANG (University of the East)
  • JETH TROY ROSARIO (National University)
  • EARL THOMPSON (UPHD Altas)
  • NORBERT TORRES (De La Salle University)
  • BASER AMER (San Beda College)
  • GARVO LANETE (San Beda College)
  • ART DELA CRUZ (San Beda College)
  • GLENN KHOBUNTIN (National University)
  • ALMOND VOSOTROS (De La Salle University)
  • ALJON MARIANO (University of Santo Tomas)
  • JOSAN NIMES (MAPUA)

This whole-day affair will be held on August 17, 2015 at Resorts World Manila.

After the PBA Draft Suite, athletes who make the cut will next be tasked to demonstrate their skills with the Draft Combine.

In partnership with Focus Athletics and Gatorade, the Draft Combine is meant to test their skills through a battery of tests and drills as well as give them a chance to try firsthand the latest performance gear from Under Armour. The Draft Combine will also share valuable knowledge to the players, including plyometrics and speed development, strength training, and anthropometry.

The PBA Draft Combine will be held on August 18 and 19, 2015 at Hoops Center.
