Ferry to Macau
In my trip to Hong Kong last June 2006 which was another mileage redemption from accumulated miles at PAL. I decided to spend a day in Macau. It was easy to visit as there is a ferry in Shun Tak Center in Sheung Wan, which is accessible via MTR and a few minutes walk. There’s a trip every 30 minutes so scheduling of the trip can be done impulsively. The trip is about 1 hour via TurboJet Ferry and a few minutes of Immigration Check and I was now standing on Macau’s soil.

Tang Dynasty Fortress in Fisherman’s Wharf beside the Ferry Station
There was a theme park just outside the ferry terminal. There was an East meets West with a Volcano replica, Alladin’s Fort and Roman Theme. There’s a Tang Dynasty Fortress and a Legends Wharf which features a collection of themed establishments from various parts of the world. These was part of the Fisherman’s Wharf which was still on trial run at this time and would officially open in December 2006. I took a cab, which was an easy thing to do and they also accept Hong Kong Dollars so Currency here is not much of an issue.Macau Sky Tower
Sky walking 233 meters above the ground.After seeing the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the Oriental TV Tower in Shanghai, I was looking forward to seeing the Macau Tower, which at 338 meters is one of taller towers in the world. What to do??? There’s a sky jump from the top of Macau Tower but that was too expensive for me. There’s a climb to the the peak of the Tower but that was too exhausting and time consuming. I decided to do a Sky Walk around the tower which is at the outdoor deck of the 233 meter point of the tower. It was nice to see the view from the top as Macau tower do stand out in Macau and you can see everything. I had my pictures taken for souvenir purposes and got a shirt that says I sky walked at 233 meters around the Macau Tower. Several of the crew in the Macau Tower were Filipinos so I asked them for places of interest and they suggested Ruins of St. Paul and Senado Square and they were kind enough to give me the directions.

I took the cab to Ruins of St. Paul and the place was really nice seeing a remnant of an old church and there were droves of tourists along the place. The place was also just a walk away from Senado Square, which is another UNESCO heritage site and had the traditional Portuguese pavements. The place was really a beauty and I did my usual to-do list in any country I visit which is to have a meal at McDonalds. A meal after, I took a cab to the Ferry and then boarded the Ferry to Hong Kong. Just like that, I was back sipping my Starbucks Coffee in Hong Kong at 3:30 pm. Would you believe all of this happened from 9:30 in the morning the morning until 3:3o in the afternoon? That’s what I call an efficient trip.
