Sofitel Manila Half Marathon is back on August 21, 2016 at the CCP Open Field.  It’s a run to promote wellness and a healthy lifestyle.  It’s also a run to support the Virlanie Foundation.  The Virlanie Foundation helps the young and less fortunate children in Manila.  Last year, with the help of 4,300 participants, Sofitel was able to raise P750,000 for the Virlanie foundation.  This is a run that can really make a difference to lives of street kids needing a boost of hope.

There will be 3 categories open to runners, which is the 5K, 10K and the half marathon distance. It starts at the CCP open fields, which is just beside Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila, and brings you through a panoramic view of Manila Bay area.  The race would also want to encourage a green lifestyle by encouraging runners to bring water bottles for refilling at designated hydration stations, minimizing the use of paper cups.

It’s now on its fourth year and has been one of the most anticipated event in the running community.  Let’s all support Sofitel and the Virlanie foundation by joining Sofitel Manila Half Marathon.

It’s always nice to run for a cause especially if it’s for the kids. It’s amazing how much they were able to raise last year and I hope it’s even better this year! This is a great opportunity to have fun and help out!

Kids need all the support they can get, especially those who doesn’t have enough. I really like the idea of being able to help out while also enjoying a half marathon such as this!

This is great news! I know someone working in Sofitel and I also know some employees from Virlanie. I have encountered them in different times during my career and I’m glad that they are part of this worthy event. I guess with Sofitel as a French brand, it is aligned that they also help out Virlanie, which has roots from France. This fundraising event will help a lot of children and beneficiaries of the foundation.

This race seems to be quite popular in Manila. Good that they are providing 5 KM route for basic runners.

This is a great event! I do hope it doesn’t rain on that day. Weather in Manila lately is a bit bipolar.

It really is an advantage to live in the city. You get the opportunity to join these awesome running events. I wish they’d host something similar here in our city so I can join, too!
