Incoming: Run for the Mountains

Posted by on 4. May 2017

McKinley West has transformed into a really nice running playground especially with its rolling terrain.  Come May 21, 2017, you get to run here for the cause of the Smokey Mountain Community Field of Dreams and the Indegenous People.  Join Run for the Mountains which has 3 categories, 3K, 5K and 10K. #RunWithAPurpose #RunForTheMountains #JCIManila #IAmJCIManila #AimHigher2017

Run for the Mountains

Run for the Mountains will allow you to enjoy the rolling terrain and clean surroundings of McKinley West as you navigate your way on either the 3K, 5K and 10K distance.   On May 21, run with your family and chill on a barbeque cookout setting with inflatable parks. See the Mangyans, Igorots and Aetas athletes strut their skills in a ninja warrior type of atmosphere. Run with Smokey Mountain football players-scholars. Every step you take supports their community towards a better future. Proceeds will go to the improvement of the Smokey Mountain Community Field of Dreams and the Indegenous People.  Last year, JCI Manila’s beneficiary for their charity run event was the L.I.F.E. Foundation to pay for the treatment of children with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.

The event is organized by a non-profit organization, JCI Manila, the Run for the Mountains will feature 3K, 5K, and 10K distances, the kiddie entertainment area, and another area to interact with the Indigenous People. Something for every member of the family. Register now and get the light feel of being able to contribute to a cause and enjoying it in the process.

When I read the title Run for the Mountains, I never expected that it would be for Smokey Mountain! What a diverse run, for it to involve indigenous mountain people and Smokey Mountain people. Unexpected combination.

This one is pretty close! I’ve never ran in Mckliney west before so this would be a good run to get acquainted with the route. I love that it has a beneficiary too, I couldn’t help but sing the song Paraiso in my head when you spoke about the Smokey Mountain

I have little idea about Smokey Mountains. If this activity benefits the people of smokey mountain then it is a generous effort. I hope people join in and enjoy the prepared activities.
