Incoming: R3Run for Sustainability

Posted by on 29. May 2014

The environment’s sustainability is in peril because of its limited nature in a fast progressing world.  Green initiatives are needed to send the message that it’s time to give something back to the environment. Quanta Paper Corporation has been in the forefront of these green initiatives with about 80% of their products made of recycled materials.  They take a step further by hosting R3Run for Sustainability at a really affordable registration rate of P250 for all categories (1K, 4K, 8K, 12K) happening on August 10, 2014 at the BlueBay Walk, Pasay.” #R3RunOfficial

Reuse, Reduce and Recycle

Reuse, Reduce and Recycle are 3 Rs that we should be practicing more often.  The environment is not a finite resource so we should start the drive to conserve our environmental resources.  Quanta Paper Corporation has just that in mind with about 80% of their product made up of recycled materials.  Quanta Paper manufactures hygienic tissue products using used office paper as raw materials instead of virgin fibers. This thrust is geared towards preservation of world’s rainforest where deforestation remains a traditional practice in the paper making industry to extract virgin fibers.  They see a balance between profits and being social responsibility.  They are taking this cause a step further by holding a run for 10,000 runners with a goal to uplift awareness on the environment on August 10, 2014. Enter R3Run.

The Run for Sustainability, or dubbed as R3RUN (Reuse, Reduce, Recycle Run) is designed to inspire environmental action among Filipino consumers and raise awareness on climate change. It also aims to educate consumers on the importance of green labelled products and how patronizing them could help in a way to protect our planet.  The event will also feature a new run location which is the BlueBay Walk, Edsa, Macapagal Avenue, Pasay City.  The activity and program venue will be inspired by an EcoVillage theme. It will showcase some of the best environmental photo exhibits and social efforts both by the Company and by its invited partners. Quanta Paper will also have a photo exhibit on how hygienic tissue is produced from waste paper to its finished product. There will be games and other interactive activities within the EcoVillage, all focused on environmental stewardship. They will also build a Green Warrior Memorial in the EcoVillage to honor and remember those forest and sea rangers who gave their lives fighting to protect and preserve the Philippines’ natural resources.

Aside a fresh route and a good cause, the run also boast of a really affordable registration fee, which is P250 across all categories, which is the 1K, 4K, 8K and 12K distances. Registration fee is at Php 250 inclusive of Running Shirt, Race Bib, Route Map and product samples of the Quanta Paper. I was really looking forward to this run. It was pretty affordable and for a good cause. I have a lot of friends who registered and joined, too bad I had to fly to Melbourne two days prior the event. How was it? I hope we’ll have more fun runs like this.

I’ve never heard of Quanta before. So they make paper towels and tissue from recycled paper? Gonna look for that nga on my next grocery trip.
