Incoming: Miyamit Falls Trail Marathon

Posted by on 12. August 2016

Clark Miyamit Trail Series showcases the beauty of the trails in Central Luzon. Miyamit Falls Trail Marathon is happening on October 2, 2016 at Alviera, Porac, Pampanga.  The centerpiece of the adventure is the scenic Miyamit Falls with both the 42K and 26K categories getting to appreciate the scenery.

Mayamit Falls 42

Miyamit Falls Trail Marathon gives runners a rare chance to see the iconic Miyamit Falls by traversing the route is mostly fire trails, dirt road and single track trails.   Runners shall go through lahar, dirt roads and a hilly route with a picturesque view of Pampanga, Mount Arayat and mountain ranges.  It’s definitely a race for those who dare to brave the trail and be amazed by the raw beauty of nature. Get ready to be challenged by the trail and be awed by the scenery on October 2, 2016.

Registration for the Miyamit Falls Trail Marathon is now open! MF42 is part of the Clark Miyamit (CM50Ultra) Trail Race Series. The race provides a glimpse of the finale race, the longer and tougher CM50Ultra which is held towards the end of November each year, November 27, 2016 for its 6th Edition.

The 42k runners will go through a long ascent of single track trails, an old trails used by the Aetas, towards the “peak” (3kms near the caldera of Mt. Pinatubo).  The iconic Miyamit Falls is the last turnaround point for both distances before heading back to the finish line. Do try to take some time to appreciate the falls as even the elites take some time to snap a photo and get a dip in the cold water for the last push towards the finish line.  Finishers of the race will get finisher’s medal, meal and shirt.

It’s also a challenging course that has required qualification and cut-offs.  The 42K distance would have about 2,114 meters of elevation to hurdle with 10 hours of cut-off.  The 26K distance would also be hurdling about 1,160 meters of elevation with an 8 hours cut-off that is generous enough for new trail runners who wants to experience the race.

With the right preparation, MF42 is an ideal venue for those who would like to venture into trail running. Trail running seems to be the organic progression from road races because of its inherent natural attraction to humans. For seasoned long distance trail runners, the race is an ideal conditioning/training race or a time to test their limits. For everyone, it is the time to go back to nature, enjoy the beauty the course offers and surpass the challenges the route shall serve, says Race Director Atty. Jon Lacanlale.

Registration is ongoing. This year’s edition will have a long list competitive runners both local and international. The line-up also consists of endurance athletes who are first timers in the sports of trail running, mountaineers, triathletes, fitness enthusiasts, among others. As an annual tradition for most of our veteran trail runners, we expect them to be the ones manning some of our critical aid stations together with the locals and the aetas.

Register now before slots are filled up.

You’ve been joining a lot of these lately and I think it’s a nice transition from the usual marathons that you’ve went on. From the looks of it, the trail looks challenging too! I’m sure it’s going to be a lot of fun for you and what an achievement afterwards!

That’s really nice that it’s for locals and international participants. I think marathons are the hardest to run, so it’s always a treat to come across someone who seems to just love it!
