I’ve joined the past 2 editions of TNF 100 in Baguio City with the 22K distance. It was a totally different experience for each race. The 2013 edition had a lot of stretches of roads while the 2014 edition was mostly trails. Both were really challenging when it comes to elevation gain with Baguio’s mountain terrain. It’s the first ultra marathon trail series and it’s been a staple for endurance athletes because of the challenge. This year, comes a faster but equally challenging Nuvali – Tagaytay – Batangas course with a different look and different sets of challenges for endurance athletes. It’s time to experience the thrill of the trail and here’s some of the reason why you should join TNF 100.
TNF is Asia’s first trail running series. It would be a challenge to participants. It’s not an easy one but with pain comes the pride of joining and finishing an event. On its 7th year, The North Face 100, Asia’s 1st Trail Running Ultra Marathon Series and the Philippines’ mother of all trail runs continue to break boundaries and challenge everyone to Never Stop Exploring.
There are scenic views and surprises along the route. It’s a new scenery for participants as after 3 years of high altitude running and massive elevation gains, 215 ushers in a “fast course” where speed and multi –terrain adaptability play much bigger roles. This provides a welcome opportunity for ultra road runners to try and experience the trails in a more accessible, controlled yet still challenging environment.
It’s all about experiencing, surviving and getting to tell people about your awesome experience and accomplishment. The greatest stories ever told are not those devoid of hardships and challenges. It’s how you surpass them and how it defines you as a person that makes it exciting.
